STEVENS ON MICKEY SHOULDER INJURY: 'IT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A SUBLUXATION'.

A left shoulder injury has thrown the plans for Jordan Mickey this summer off course. However, the Boston Celtics still anticipate him seeing some action this summer although it won’t be in Salt Lake City.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said the second-year forward/center is expected to rejoin the team in Las Vegas. Mickey traveled with the team to Salt Lake City but returned to Boston for treatments and an MRI.

“From what I’ve been told, the MRI looks good,” said Stevens. “It doesn’t look like a subluxation like we talked about with Kelly (Olynyk),” said Celtics head coach Brad Stevens.

Olynyk suffered a right shoulder subluxation (partial separation) on Feb. 10 against the Los Angeles Clippers. The injury led to Olynyk missing the next 12 games. And even when he returned, he was never quite the same player.

The outlook in regards to Mickey’s injury is much brighter. “He’s going to go through a light workout today,” Stevens said of Mickey. “And get another workout tomorrow. And then, if all goes well he’ll be on a plane to Vegas.”

The injury comes at a time when the Celtics were very eager to see Mickey’s game continue to expand from being a shot blocker who can also rebound.

“The idea behind summer league when we first got together before the draft, is for Jordan to get a lot of time,” Stevens said. “And for Jordan to get a lot of opportunity.”
